“Meh…good enough”

The current source of inspiration for your puny human writing this article is a meme. Memes are replacing what sayings used to be in a language, pieces of culture that get propagated among each other, that may or may not teach us something. Proverbs used to carry some wisdom and life lessons, but since we are experiencing overdosed minimalism, in all aspects of life, you get what you can.I’ve learned recently that people often think of the Roman Empire. I do not. I think of courage. Sometimes. Of wisdom, justice, temperance also, but courage is my favorite spice.Talking about placing the weight of the world on your shoulders, how often did you challenge your assumptions lately? With the multitude of videos of people doing the same thing on and on and on just with different musical background (jokes on us, culturally, we used to laugh at other animals for their imitations), with artistic endeavours not getting popularised based on their flavour, or innovation, but virality (meaning how many share or interact on a social media platform), how acceptable are you to yourself?I think of courage because it became a very passé value, regardless of its current validity. It seems to get replaced by inflated self esteem and entitlement. Instead of speaking your mind out, especially when the need arises, you get to say what is socially acceptable, with strong correcting tone. And today, I am not sure how easy it is to get to socially acceptable either. No need for personal nuances for your thoughts, you never know who gets triggered. And if someone gets triggered, it’s your problem, not theirs. Accountability, in all the wrong places.
