More Than Emptiness

More Than Emptiness

My mind is clear, no longer weighed down by worries put there by people, situations, and feelings Why does this clarity feel so strange and new like a fondness I’ve never felt before The world coughs up blood and smoke why are we hurting others to make ourselves better? Coexisting without violence and oppression is at most a dream hurt or be hurt had been imprinted on me from the day I was born Are we all broken souls, trying our best not to be forgotten Frostbite from the icy stares of the people around us
shaping us to become our own worst fear, a mirror of themselves Is this all we are meant to become or to achieve? We’re soaked to the bone, shivering under a broken umbrella enjoying these fleeting moments, believing we’re not real or maybe we’re trapped inside a dream, a nightmare and we are never to return to the real world All that’s left is the remnants of who you used to be a simple shadow whispering into your ear, you’re better than this Everything has changed, we’re drifting in the waves The ocean will swallow us

This is not the curtain call, not now We are more than cold apologies, searching for our souls What if we are sparks of light in an endless night There’s more to us than you first expected I’ll try to be better, and I hope you will too The dream is we’re more than emptiness and hatred locked inside a casket full of the nightmares of others We are not the end, we’re simply the beginning
We are light Thank you Move Me Poetry for being this amazing and including publication. and all the editors for creating an incredible community.
