Why Perfectionism Is Both a Blessing and a Curse
But it’s not a superpower like being able to fly, telekinesis, or shooting laser beams out of your eyes. It’s more like having the ability to pass through some walls. Sure, it’s amazing when you gallop towards a wall at full speed and zip through it like a neutrino. But it’s also oh-so-painful when you crash face-first into a brick wall.
You see, as a perfectionist you have some clear advantages over careless pragmatists:
- Not only that, but you can be persistent and determined to the point of being obsessed, which allows you to easily outlast entire armies of competing quitters and those all too common one-day-I’ll-write-a-book wannabe writers.
- What’s more, your attention to detail can make editors scream “hallelujah!” in orgasmic ecstasy because you’re the one writer who actually read the submission guidelines, checked for typos, and knows how grammar works.
