Copyright 2.0

Copyright / Media / Mashup / AI => Copyright 2.0

Generative AI is throwing a monkey wrench into the copyright discussion and “thinking” (duh, as you know). Yet, the discussion falls back to the “Copyright Baseline” (the “OG” of Copyright). And we’re reminded of the heavy “manual” and seemingly now archaic nature of this legacy copyright process = the legal part and the one-off for every project, etc. Therefore, we propose a Copyright “Fork” (We can’t change the “past”). I’m sure there have been thousands of attempts to “crack this nut”. Nonetheless, here is a proposal:The details of Copyright 2.0 would include creating a GitMedia repository and mechanism established for this new paradigm. All GitMedia inputs (media) are declared open source with fair use, commercial use, mashups, alerted use etc. facilitated and encouraged.

Artists and Creators (Creators) establish GitMedia “repos” similar to how Git repositories are created today for software and documentation projects. Creators disclose all prior work “inputs” into their project repo. Creators permit and engage Collaborators. Creators permit their repos to be cloned under Copyright 2.0 terms and conditions. Performers and Players (Performers) can perform or play any/all projects under the Copyright 2.0 terms and conditions.GitMedia’s media platform will incorporate interfaces to all entity types (Creators, Performers, Royaltors, Advertisers, Subscribers, Publishers, Distributors, Collaborators etc.). Entities are “sub-typed” as appropriate for each/every use-case or scenario. For example Royaltors can be songwriters, rights holders, media labels etc.
