The Moon That Smiles Only for The Special Ones
Hidden behind thick dark grey curtains made of clouds hide the moon of February. In that nest of uniqueness and shyness sits February`s moon like a queen on her splendid throne in a kingdom of mystery and clamor.
When I did not visit my grandma that often, she used to say“ You should visit me more. You can not act like the moon of February!”
My grandma, the first and best storyteller I have ever had, used to say while smiling with her reassuring soft voice “The moon of February is rarely visible to us. It is so beautiful. If you see that moon one day you might be amazed and speechless. If you can gather yourself and make a wish, then that wish will come true and a small river of happiness will flow in your heart.”
On the contrary, my grandfather was an example of the superstitious who believed selectively in all horrific legends of death, blood, and curses. He had a strong belief that death is the happiest “creature” in February. “ Usually every night death walks in the streets with its black cloak but in February when no moon shines, it walks naked without a cloak. Nothing could be more frightful than seeing death in that shape. Those who see death naked die with opened eyes”. He said always the same phrase with his shaking voice and my grandma would shout and interrupt asking him to stop otherwise the poor child( me) would be so afraid.
